Role

Who You Are

As a Social Worker in our Children Looked After Team, you will be a dedicated champion for children and young people in care. Your core purpose is to build genuine, lasting relationships with children living with foster carers, connected carers (friends and family), prospective adopters, residential homes, and semi-independent provisions.

What the job involves

  • Lead on life-long permanence planning, ensuring every child has a safe, stable, and nurturing environment to thrive in.
  • Advocate for children's wishes and prepare young people for a smooth transition into independent adulthood.
  • Direct Work & Relationship Building: Conduct regular, meaningful visits to children and young people, using child-centered tools to understand their experiences, wishes, and feelings.
  • Permanence & Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review comprehensive Care Plans focused on achieving timely permanence.
  • Safeguarding & Assessment: Continually assess risk and safety, undertaking statutory assessments, reviews, and planning.
  • Independence Support: Work with older children to build life skills, supporting their transition to semi-independent living and adulthood.
  • Multi-Agency Advocacy: Collaborate with partner agencies to deliver holistic, multi-disciplinary care.
  • Court & Legal Work: Prepare high-quality court statements, care plans, and evidence for care proceedings.
