HOST Casework Officer – (Grade H)

London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Who You Are

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Floating Support Officer to provide intensive, person-centred support to individuals who are rough sleeping or have recently moved from the streets into accommodation. You should have demonstrable experience working directly with people who are rough sleeping or have experienced street homelessness. The ideal candidate will be confident in assertive engagement, work independently, manage a varied caseload, and maintain accurate and timely case records.

What the Job Involves

The primary purpose of the role is to support individuals in moving away from rough sleeping, settling into accommodation, and reducing the risk of returning to the streets. This involves managing a caseload of individuals with multiple and complex needs, providing flexible support, and building effective relationships even with those who may be difficult to engage. Responsibilities include completing needs and risk assessments, developing and reviewing support plans, conducting face-to-face visits, and coordinating support with relevant services. The role requires working closely with homelessness services, accommodation providers, and various partners, focusing on housing, tenancy sustainment, benefits, health and wellbeing.

Skills

  • Experience with rough sleeping and street homelessness
  • Ability to support individuals with multiple and complex needs
  • Strong assertive engagement skills
  • Capability to work independently in community settings
  • Proficiency in managing a varied caseload
  • Effective communication in both writing and verbally
  • Excellent IT skills, including databases and MS Office
  • Strong partnership and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to equality and diversity
  • Willingness to travel to various sites and locations
