Role

Who You Are

You are an experienced Development Engineer with a solid background in highway engineering and materials. You possess an understanding of highway law and demonstrate proficiency in both on-site and office-based tasks. You are adept at inspecting, measuring, and monitoring highway works related to new developments. You are capable of handling issues related to the public rights of way network and can support office-based activities, including amending drawings with AutoCAD, producing progress reports, and monitoring budgets and risk management.

What the Job Involves

As a Development Engineer at Bexley Council, you will ensure developer proposals for new housing and industrial developments meet council specifications and requirements for roads and bridges. You will negotiate agreements, manage consultants, liaise with third parties, and ensure developments are implemented safely and in accordance with agreed terms. You will also be responsible for ensuring all relevant traffic orders, licenses, approvals, audits, and health and safety plans are in place. Additionally, you will inspect construction work for compliance and prepare certification upon satisfactory completion.
