Who You Are
You are a qualified Building Surveyor educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant property subject, ideally with membership eligibility in a professional body like RICS or CIOB. Based in Plymouth, you are well-versed in building construction, health and safety legislation, and possess extensive experience in building maintenance and project management. You are capable of working autonomously, making immediate decisions, and managing a diverse range of assets including historic buildings and office sites. Ideally, you bring experience with foreshore projects.
What the Job Involves
In this professional role, you will be responsible for delivering programmed and responsive maintenance works across the Council’s property estate, including condition and compliance surveys. You’ll manage health and safety risks, oversee asset management plans, and act as the subject matter expert in building-related statutory compliance. Your duties will include undertaking asset management surveys, responding to maintenance requests, managing capital-funded projects, developing compliance policies, and leading safety standards improvements. Site visits, including during adverse conditions or emergencies, are a crucial part of the role.
