You have experience working with disabled individuals and a strong understanding of their rights and the challenges they face. With the ability to communicate effectively in English and Welsh, or a willingness to learn Welsh, you are ready to take on responsibilities and provide mentorship.
What the Job Involves
The Employment Support Worker is responsible for guiding individuals with disabilities to acquire the skills necessary for voluntary or paid employment through the Conwy Disability Employment Mentoring Support Service. You will contribute to co-produced plans, provide feedback on progress, and ensure health and safety standards are met. In addition to daily site supervision, you will handle responsibilities in service retail settings, support stock management, and act as the main point of contact in the absence of management. You will also play a vital role in mentorship, supporting Employment Support Assistants and ensuring a professional service for customers and the public.
Skills
- QCF level 3 (NVQ 3) in Health and Social Care (Adults)
- Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Intermediate computer literacy (Microsoft packages)
- Ability to implement and adapt personal plans
- Knowledge of risk assessment and safe practices
- Mentorship and team management skills
- Creativity and innovation in support methods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
