Who You Are

The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking a locum Lawyer for a temporary assignment of approximately 12 weeks. As the role involves handling policing work of a sensitive nature, you must be ready to undertake police vetting following your start date. You will need to have experience working in the public sector or local authority, with expertise in governance, particularly in reviewing constitutions and developing schemes of delegation.

What the Job Involves

This hybrid role, based in Northallerton/York, requires you to attend in-person meetings and committee sessions. You will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing the Combined Authority's constitution.
  • Developing a scheme of delegation with the Finance Department.
  • Supporting the Independent Remuneration Panel with reviewing remuneration for certain roles.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Department on the Annual Governance Statement and ensuring monitoring against any actions.
