Who You Are

You are a Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3) with a solid professional background and the ability to support the Workshop Manager in maintaining and repairing the council's vehicle fleet. You possess the qualifications, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills necessary to ensure the fleet is maintained to high standards and remains roadworthy.

What the Job Involves

Your role involves supporting the Workshop Manager in the maintenance and repair of the council's fleet, ensuring all activities are carried out effectively, safely, and within budget. Duties include inspecting, servicing, and repairing vehicles, plant, and equipment in compliance with legal regulations and council policies. You will promote a culture of continuous improvement and work collaboratively to achieve and report on performance standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting MoT tests, handling workshop administration, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Skills

• NVQ 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent
• VOSA accreditation for Commercial Vehicle Inspector and Nominated Tester
• Current vocational LGV Category C driving license
• Intermediate technical skills in vehicle maintenance and repair, including welding and diagnostics
• Proficiency in IT, including experience with Chevin Fleetwave and Microsoft Office tools
• Excellent communication, numeracy, and organizational skills
• Understanding of Health & Safety and transport legislation
• Ability to work split shifts and provide standby cover
• Experience in a transport workshop or logistics environment
• Teamwork and leadership within a transport-oriented setting
