Who You Are
You are a dedicated and knowledgeable individual with a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in civil or highway engineering. Your professional qualifications include at least an ONC/HNC, ideally a degree or equivalent in related fields. You possess extensive experience managing S38 and S278 projects, providing technical audits and overseeing adoption processes. You demonstrate strong customer care skills, are adept at managing budgets, and have a proven track record of supervising contractors. Your ability to set and meet targets ensures the successful delivery of various programmes of work. A full driving license or the ability to travel around the borough is essential.
What the Job Involves
This role involves leading the assessment of transport infrastructure proposals and ensuring planning applications comply with relevant policies and technical standards. You will negotiate legal agreements related to new and existing roads, process highway applications, provide highways advice, and manage development management schemes. Responsibilities include representing the Highway Authority at meetings, preparing cost estimates, and overseeing site inspections. You will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, maintaining financial records, and promoting service excellence. The role requires adherence to health and safety legislation and support in achieving the Council's commitment to equality and corporate values.
