A Specialist Building Inspector (Class 3 Specialist) with qualifications and practical experience, capable of handling high-risk and complex projects. You are self-motivated, with the ability to provide expert advice and maintain high professional standards, while actively contributing to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
What the Job Involves
The role involves conducting specialist assessments, evaluating complex projects, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards. You will work alongside the Building Safety Regulator, partake in Multi-Disciplinary Teams, assess dangerous structures, and enforce action if necessary. The job also includes supporting the Deputy Head of Building Control, maintaining records, liaising with stakeholders, and promoting the Building Control service.
Skills
- Degree/Masters in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, or Structural Engineering
- Chartered member of RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent
- Excellent knowledge of construction industry and Building Act 1984
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Experience with high-risk buildings and local government procedures
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong ICT and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexibly, independently, and under tight deadlines
- Full driving license/access to transport for site work
