Who You Are
You are a qualified legal professional with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience, either as a Solicitor of England and Wales, Barrister, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, or a qualified lawyer from another jurisdiction. You possess a thorough understanding of local government law, human rights, equalities legislation, and housing litigation. You have demonstrated success in building relationships with stakeholders and are adept in managing a legal caseload independently while meeting performance targets within a local authority setting.
What the Job Involves
Your role is to deliver high-quality legal services and advice to clients, including the Cabinet and Council bodies, ensuring compliance with statutory and governance requirements. You will draft legal documents, advise on legislation impact, and represent the Council in litigation matters. Responsibilities also include supporting departmental strategies, managing complex cases, preparing reports, attending meetings, and promoting continuous improvement in service delivery. You are expected to uphold good governance and assist in client liaison across Legal Services.
