The ideal candidate for the Senior Practitioner role will be an experienced social work professional committed to achieving excellent outcomes for children in need of protection and those looked after by the authority. You are knowledgeable, compassionate, and capable of handling complex cases under relevant legislation. You possess strong analytical and communication skills, and you are adept at forming productive working relationships. With a proven ability to manage caseloads effectively, you are approachable, supportive, and ready to facilitate the work of more junior staff in challenging situations.

What the Job Involves

This role requires you to assess and provide services to children and families in need, within the framework of pertinent legislation, policies, and procedures. You will be expected to maintain high professional standards and manage caseloads of complex and problematic cases. Responsibilities include formulating and updating child protection plans, engaging in court proceedings, coordinating services, and supervising junior staff. You will work within Child Protection guidelines, ensure the well-being of looked after children, and contribute to the team’s development by promoting equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices. The role includes acting as duty social worker and involves participation in continuous professional development.
