What the Job Involves
The Principal Planner role primarily involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality development and infrastructure projects while minimizing the impact on existing residents and businesses. You will manage a varied caseload of high-profile and complex residential and commercial development schemes. Your responsibilities include processing planning applications, conducting site visits, liaising with stakeholders, negotiating financial contributions, and drafting planning legal agreements. You will report to senior management, represent the council in appeals, and contribute to the strategic framework to secure high-quality developments. Additionally, you will provide a proactive service to expedite major development programs, offer technical advice, manage public engagements, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
