What the Job Involves
This challenging but rewarding role focuses on moving residents from temporary accommodation to private rented properties. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Contacting residents in temporary accommodation to discuss private housing options.
- Collecting resident information, including income and medical evidence.
- Securing privately rented accommodation by negotiating with landlords and agents.
- Procuring accommodation within and outside of London.
- Ensuring accommodation meets suitability standards for formal offers (S198).
- Preparing cases for the discharge of Main Duty.
This role requires a minimum of 2 days per week based at the Hackney Service Centre, with potential offsite visits and presentations.
Skills
- Excellent communication and spreadsheet skills
- Experience negotiating with landlords, agents, and residents
- Experience procuring properties for homeless residents
- Confidence in discussing housing challenges with residents
