Job Description: Operational Manager, Youth Justice Service

Who You Are

Sefton’s Youth Justice Service is seeking a skilled and motivated Operational Manager. You are an experienced leader with a successful track record of delivering high-quality services within the youth justice system. You possess a relevant professional qualification, supplemented by a leadership qualification or equivalent experience. You have up-to-date knowledge of the youth justice environment and are committed to working collaboratively with partner agencies and Children's Social Care colleagues. Ambitious for children and dedicated to delivering high-quality services, you embody leadership competencies and behaviors that drive practice and promote positive outcomes.

What the Job Involves

The primary responsibility is to support the Service Manager by delivering effective services for children, young people, and their families. As an Operational Manager, you will manage a multi-agency team, provide robust managerial support, and oversee the implementation of the Service Development Plan. Key tasks include developing relationships with partners, ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned with National Key Performance Indicators, integrating with wider Children’s Services, and managing budget reporting. You will represent the Youth Justice Service at meetings, develop preventive offers, and manage budgets for externally funded projects, contributing to the Strategic Youth Justice Annual Plan and related audits.
