Who You Are

You are an experienced legal professional with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience, either as a Solicitor of England and Wales, a Barrister called to the Bar of England and Wales, or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. You possess a thorough understanding of local government law, contracts, and public procurement, and have a proven ability to build and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders. You excel in managing your caseload and are committed to maintaining good governance and confidentiality in all matters.

What the Job Involves

As a Contracts Lawyer, your role involves providing high-quality legal advice and support to clients, including council bodies and elected members. You will be responsible for delivering sustainable legal services that comply with statutory frameworks and align with council objectives. Key tasks include advising on legal matters, preparing legal documents, attending meetings, presenting cases before courts and tribunals, and supporting the development of strategies and policies. You will also be required to maintain accurate records of chargeable hours and ensure continuous service improvement.
